Apparently accepting one of the conditions given by the Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, that the state executive committee ...

of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) be dissolved before he would join the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party yesterday dissolved the state executive committee in the state.

Also, the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State is gradually getting out of hand as the stakeholders of the party have rejected the option of the National Chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, to appoint a Caretaker Committee, instead of conducting a state congress.

In one of the conditions by Governor Orji before joining the PDP, he asked for the control of the party structures in the state to enable him to have control of the party executive structure.
It was gathered that one of the reasons given for the dissolution of the PDP Abia State executive committee headed by Chief Ndidi Okereke was the refusal of the party in the state to register the former governor of the state, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, and his associates who defected from the Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA) to the PDP.

PDP National Chairman , Nwodo, in a statement , said “Following the confirmation of several allegations against the State Executive Committee bordering on the flagrant violation of our Constitution, abuse of office and senile disobedience of lawful directives of the National Working Committee (NWC) which has precipitated crisis and factionalisation of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) is constrained to dissolve the State Executive Committee forthwith.
